Spain Update 2 - Purposeful Travel
Kara Hippen

The Spain Family has been using public transportation to travel throughout Spain. The team has packed into crowded buses, trains, metros, cable cars, funiculars, and trams to reach public plazas and parks.
As we move through these systems, I can’t help but think about all the people who, over the years, have taken the same routes to see the very same places we are visiting. Yet, our purpose is different. Our goal is to bring the hope of the gospel to Spain—so that those who are lost can know that Jesus Christ is Lord, and believers can be encouraged in their faith.
When we arrive at each destination, we begin with prayer for the people we’re about to encounter. Then, we perform a dance and drama. After that, it’s showtime—the students begin approaching people to share their faith in Jesus. We walk through the same plazas and parks as many before us, but our eyes are fixed on a higher purpose: winning souls for our Lord.
Each day, the students grow more confident in talking with strangers—whether they’re locals or tourists visiting Spain from around the world. The students return from conversations with smiles, knowing they’ve planted seeds the Holy Spirit can nurture. Just yesterday, some students shared the gospel with a man dressed as the video game character Mario. They came back laughing, saying, “We loved talking to our buddy Mario!” This is why we’re here—to make Jesus known—even to Mario.
