Royal Servants Summer Ministry
Hannah Henriksen
Are you on the fence about going overseas this summer? Are you interested in serving but not sure where to go? Now is the time to sign up!
Trust me when I say you will not regret spending your summer overseas with Royal Servants. For all the alumni out there, I want you to think about what a difference your summer made in your life. Remember the friendships you built, the cool places you visited, and the change God worked in and through you and your team.
This summer, Royal Servants is sending teams to seven different locations. Are you thinking of going?
As the summer nears, we are excited to have two of our teams already full! Each trip is unique in their ministry, the people they serve, and the culture they get to take part in. So, I invite you to keep reading as I give you a little taste of what your summer could look like on one of our open teams!
Deep Connections, Friendly Competition, and Coffee Farms
What more could you ask for? Our ministry in Costa Rica allows us to overcome cultural and language barriers through the beautiful game of futsal or, as we Americans say, soccer. Futsal is an essential part of Latin American culture. Whether it's a pickup game in the park or an organized tournament, soccer opens the door for us to connect with Costa Rican students, have meaningful conversations, and share the Gospel. Not interested in soccer? No worries, you can still make a difference! Through our ministry partners of 20+ years, Pastor Alfonso and his wife Grace, you will also have the chance to work in local churches and schools.
Nestled between the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean, Costa Rica is a land sprinkled with breathtaking views. Whether bathing beneath a refreshing waterfall or zip-lining through the rainforest, there is plenty to explore.
Building Friendships and Bringing Life to A Post-Christian Culture
Despite having a rich religious history, the people of Ireland have turned away from their faith and have become numb to the church. We have the privilege of partnering with local churches to reach youth in the area with the love of Christ through VBS-type programs, backyard barbecues, and Sunday services. Ireland's cobblestone city squares also provide the perfect space to draw a crowd through street performances and engage in conversational street ministry with some of the friendliest people you will ever meet.
Ireland has so much to offer, from the vibrant patchwork of green rolling countryside to the medieval castles and tiny cottages scattered across the hills. In this fairytale land, there are always people to meet, conversations to have, and love to share.
A Little Of This, A Little Of That, And A Whole Lot Of Love
Nepal is overflowing with ministry opportunities, from baseball to balloon animals and everything in between. I promise you will never be bored. We partner with local churches, believers, and long-term workers to serve the Nepali people right where they are. You’ll have the chance to meet people from every walk of life as we enter into orphanages, schools, and city slums spreading the love of Jesus. We will also visit local ministries that combat human trafficking to learn how we can support these ministries, whether back home or in Nepal.
Take a trip on the wild side. Experience the joy of riding on the bare back of an elephant, trekking up the mountainside, and wandering through Chitwan National Park. Nepal is not for the faint of heart, but it is well worth the work.
Serving Short-Term To Love Them Long-Term
Our goal in Peru is to share Christ by establishing relationships and meeting needs within the community. Our partners in Peru are extra special as we get to team up with Royal Servants Alumni who are now full-time missionaries in Arequipa. We are not only serving the people of Peru but caring for the long-term workers so they can continue to be effective in sharing the Gospel long after we are gone. Throughout the summer, you may find yourself teaching English, working in community kitchens, or playing with local children after school. We are to be the hands and feet of Jesus, so we will show up ready to serve no matter the task.
Surrender to the Spanish culture and enjoy all that Peru has to offer. Including the alpacas! From the top of the Andes Mountains to the depths of the deepest canyons, Peru is full of adventure.
Learning And Growing In Leadership
Nehemiah is an invitation-only team for alumni. The team focuses on discovering the strengths and gifts God has given you and learning to use them in leadership. The summer will include many opportunities for hands-on experience in leading and serving others. One of the main components of a Nehemiah summer is preparing others for their mission trip by training and prepping other teams in skill groups. We are so excited about what this summer has in store. If you have been invited and are interested in being part of the Nehemiah team, reach out to us today!
No matter where you end up this summer, I believe God has a plan for you! My hope and prayer is that you will consider taking a leap of faith and join us this summer! Join the Story of what God is doing all around the world!
