Ireland Update 1 - Drizzle & Discussions
Scott Anderson

Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful…..
On June 30th the Ireland team was ready to get out of Training Camp and jump on our plane to Dublin. We were thrilled to get away from the heat and humidity in Wisconsin. When we arrived on July 1st, it was a cool 65 degrees Fahrenheit. It felt wonderful. That is one of the nice things about Ireland, the cooler weather. On the flip side, there is a reason it is called the Emerald Isle.
While the forecast may say there is a very low chance of rain, the reality is there is ALWAYS a chance of rain, drizzle, or a light mist. Even with all of the bouts of rain, this has not dampened our spirits. It has, however, posed some challenges for some of our ministry that has been outdoors, but our team has been wonderful. They have been able to adapt and have not backed down from opportunities to have conversations with people. While the wind may blow, and the rain may come, our students have endured and persevered.
Every couple of nights we debrief the last few days of ministry. It has been fun to hear about the conversations that they are having with people. They have learned quite a bit and have been bold to strike up discussions. They have learned how to create a “sense of need” to start a conversation by asking things like where to get some good coffee or what the best fish and chips place is. They have discovered that when a person says they are “Christian,” that can mean many different things to many different people. The students have also been challenged to know the Word of God and share it boldly. We have had the opportunity to plant lots of spiritual seeds in anticipation of a future harvest.
So even though the rain, mist, clouds, and wind may come, our team pushes forward, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and they leave the results up to God. The weather may be frightful at times, but our God controls the weather and can and will work through our students this summer as we have already witnessed.
