Nepal

Nepal is a rugged and fascinating country. It is a landscape rich and vibrant with colors, sights, sounds, smells, and new experiences around every corner. The religious backdrop of Hinduism and Buddhism blend ancient customs and everyday life, exposing a world view vastly different from anything you've ever seen before.

Our message will be simple: there is hope in Christ. Forgiveness, redemption, peace, and assurance are all found in Jesus. But it's not a message easily received when your world is defined by Hindu or Buddhist tradition. Our job is to enter into the world of the Nepali people we meet and find out what it is going to take to help them encounter the love of Christ firsthand. Are you willing?

This trip is ideally suited for college students who get the option of taking January off from class, but is open to any participants ages 16-25.

On this trip we will be partnering with long term missionaries already on the ground. We will be hiking out into remote villages in the mountains in order to come face to face with the always kind, generous, and curious Nepali people. We will use the time we have with them to establish relationships, learn about their way of life and view of the world, connect on a personal level, and share the gospel with them. Some of the people you come into contact with will never have heard the name of Jesus before. You will be the first.

We will also be getting an insider’s perspective into human trafficking in Nepal and witness first hand the work ministries are doing to combat the trafficking of Nepali people into the sex trade. On this trip you will step foot in actual transit locations where people are working to rescue girls as they are being transported to India and see the efforts being put into developing programs that protect those who are vulnerable to this issue, like orphan care and community education campaigns. You will also get to meet the missionaries, church leaders, local believers, and volunteers who are working nonstop to fight human trafficking.

eat & Sleep

Food in Nepal is inexpensive, hearty, and delicious. We will cook some of our own meals, as needed, but will also be able to eat out at the many restaurants around town. Momo, dal bhat, thukpa, veg curry, and chowmein are all staples in Nepal and difficult not to love. Wash it down with Nepali milk tea, and you’ll forget what life was like before Nepali food was a part of it. But if you need to spring for some wood-fired pizza, pastries, or some really good espresso, you can find that too.

We’ll be staying in guest houses and tea houses. Think small hotels. They are safe and simple and include beds, linens, showers, electrical outlets, and enough space to meet as a team.

who should go?

This trip is for participants ages 16-25 and is scheduled so that it’s an ideal opportunity for college students who are not taking a January term class. If you like to travel, experience new things, and have a desire to grow in your faith and your ability to share the gospel message to others, then this is a great opportunity for you. Please take into consideration that this trip will include long hikes at higher altitudes, cool weather, and long days.

Is full time missions something you would like to explore for yourself? This is a great opportunity to peer into the lives of long term missionaries and get a firsthand taste to see if it’s for you. Regardless, you don’t have to be a professional evangelist, or a flawless Christian. This will be a chance to practice talking about your faith with other people, building new relationships, and gaining some new ministry skills. God calls us all to evangelism, though it can be intimidating and scary. We believe that with some practice and some help, you will see the thrill and rewards that come with stepping out and sharing your faith with someone who needs to hear it. No need to wait around anymore for the perfect opportunity. This is it!

fundraising

While fundraising can be a daunting task, and the idea of asking people to help you cover the cost of this trip might be intimidating to you, we believe that there are many people out there who know you that would love the chance to invest in something so worthwhile. It is an amazing experience to see God provide for an opportunity like this through the people in your life. We can help you figure out how to get the word out and show people you are ready to serve God in Nepal. We are happy to coach you through the process and hope that you don’t hesitate to take us up on the offer.

We had an amazing time in serving in this country and unfortunately this group trip is no longer available. If you're looking for group or individual mission trips, click below to visit our home page.
