Training Camp Day 7
Tears of joy flowed last night as many students found new freedom in their personal walks with God. It really is amazing to see the journey on a daily basis.
We let the students sleep in until 6:30 am this morning! I know parents are laughing, and can't imagine how this would be a treat. But, it was! We were all grateful for the rest.
This morning we walked through what forgiveness looks like. We focused on the truth of deep heart forgiveness that begins with a journey of restitution. We gave the students opportunities to contact people they needed to repair relationships with and many of them made calls. Over the years, we have learned that this is an important part of preparing hearts for service.
The afternoon flew by as we practiced skills groups one last time and started dinner prep. You know it's meal time when you hear the cook crews yelling "hot pot" as they carry a pots to the cook areas. It's really a sight to behold.
Tonight they were singing "How Great is Our God" so loud that you could hear it almost a mile away. (I know, we were driving with our windows open!!!) Isn't that fun? Voices lifted up and students from across the country crying out to God for more.
One thing missing from my posts is the deep life change stories. Believe me, they are happening. I was sharing with a staff member that it can be hard to craft these posts in a way that captures how BIG God's footprints are while still protecting the sacred journey of the students. And, I've arrived at this conclusion.....most of the students here are walking with the Lord and ready to get on the plane and start serving right now. They are solid in their faith, they have come to peace with any life issues that are present and they want to make an impact in the world for Christ. They are ready for missions!
The remaining students are hurting and processing very deep and personal life experiences and wrestling with God. It is good, deep, rich processing. And, it's not my story.....so, I will allow them to share their story, in their time and in their own voice. Many of those students are the ones that email me years later and share about how that summer in a tent fighting it out with God radically changed their life. I can wait for that story. Can you?
Each year there is a "flavor". This year...it's a thick mix of worship, prayer and anticipation. We sense God preparing these students for very special opportunities overseas. We don't know who they will meet or what situations they will encounter, but, we know it will be life changing.

God is so good! How awesome to read of lives being totally surrendered to Him during this week of camp. I so wish I could be there to experience the worship time with you. I am so glad that my granddaughter, McKenzie Thomas chose to be a part of the Costa Rica team this year and know this will be a life changing time for her. Thank you for the way in which you train these young people - I know they are experiencing a time that will impact their lives forever. Love you McKenzie and praying for you!

I just stumbled onto these pages, and we are thrilled to see the updates, to find the pictures, and to know more of what's going on at camp. Daniel (USQuest), we miss you loads, but marvel at all you are able to experience. We pray daily and often for you! I know God is going to do mighty things with your life, my son!
Looking forward to hearing your stories, and for you and Luke (2007) to compare tales.
Love you! Mom
Re: Training Camp Day 7
I'm praising God for the unseen preparation of these young people's hearts and souls. I was thinking about the great political and social turmoil taking place in our country and pondering how blessed we are to have those in the next generation seeking God with their spirits and souls and further being prepared to carry on His legacy and His truth! I don't recall who said it, but they said, "Christianity is only ever one generation away from extinction". Thank you for providing the time and opportunity for these young people to learn greater depth of a real relationship with our Lord!! It is a demonstration of God's continuing plan and grace.

As my mom read this to me, I could picture my older sister Jenny (China Team) praising God. I can't wait for her return but she makes me so proud with the work that she is doing!!! Just hearing those kids praises from a mile away must have been uplifting. Praise is so powerful and it is good that those kids have their own time to get with God and ask him questions. I know that all of the students have grown so much and that is just awesome!! I miss Jenny, but having her grow in her faith with God is great with me!! Tell her I say hi from Katie.

Re: Training Camp Day 7
I continue to be blessed reading of the work that God is doing... it also blesses me to read of the many parents across the country missing their kids like I miss McKenzie (Costa Rica) but also all the prayers that are being lifted up. Again, thank you for the work you are doing! We would love to see some more pictures if you can post any...

Re: Training Camp Day 7
The tears flow as I read these daily updates. Some tears are because I miss my daughter, but most of the tears are praise to God for the experience He is giving her. And praise for the work He is doing in so many lives. I wish I could be there Saturday, but as always I will be praying for the teams. I'm praying for good health, safe travel, and for God to prepare the hearts of those who will be meeting the teams. Say Hi to Emily (Sierra Leone)
