Training Camp
Every Royal Servants mission trip begins with Training Camp.
Royal Servants Training Camp is held at Living Springs Camp in Lewistown, Illinois which is about 45 miles southwest of Peoria, Illinois. Lewistown is a small farming community with a population of 1,500. You may drive directly to Training Camp, or you can meet your team in Chicago. From Chicago, we rent buses and drive all teams to Training Camp.
Training Camp is a part of your Royal Servants experience and is included in both the published dates and costs for the mission trips. However, as mentioned in Mission Trip Preparation Expenses, you are responsible for the cost of getting yourself to Training Camp and home again at the end of the summer.
Our training period is longer than others because we feel that when you reach the mission field you must be ready! We want you to be fully equipped with spiritual grounding, ministry training, and mission trip tools. Training camp is a time to get focused and the place where the discipleship begins. We'll help you become spiritually prepared through intentional small group discipleship, in-depth devotional times, and relevant group teaching. Training Camp allows you to: (1) to get spiritually and emotionally focused (2) become equipped with mission trip tools such as skill groups and sports teams (3) become a team and genuinely get to know your team members, and (4) develop deep, meaningful relationships and lasting friendships-all before you start the mission trip portion of the mission.
Having been prepared at Training Camp, you will arrive on the mission field equipped to share your faith. If you are a part of a sports team, you will land prepared to play! And because we provide training for music, dance, drama, and puppets, you will be ready for group performances whether on street corners or in a church setting.
