If you want to see Eastern Europe, minister through a game of pickup basketball, and swim in the Black Sea, our mission trip to Romania and Ukraine is for you.  This mission trip is six weeks long (43 days), and you will be required to raise $3,595, plus your spending money (see below).

The Heart of Your Ministry...

You will work with your team in the port city of Odessa, which is on the Black Sea, for the first half of your mission trip.  After that you will travel to Romania to ministering in Pitesti, a city an hour west of Bucharest.  You will work alongside local missionaries and church members in massive concrete apartment complexes where thousands of people are living in one city block.

While the Orthodox Church has a presence in Eastern Europe, most people do not truly understand the Gospel.  Yet many are interested in talking about spiritual things.  You will work with local churches in Romania and Ukraine, hang with students, and develop meaningful relationships with students and families.  You will use drama, dance, or puppet skits you learn at Training Camp to reach out through public mini-performances.  They draw attention and open doors to share about Christ.  Children especially come out of the woodwork to see these types of performances, and through them we will be able to connect with and reach out to their families.

If you like basketball, you can build relationships with the young Ukrainians and Romanians that are hanging out.  Pickup games open many doors to new relationships and opportunities to talk about your faith.

Sadly Romania and Ukraine have a lot of orphans.  As part of our ministry in these countries we will likely visit some orphanages and share Christ's love by caring for the kids.

Adventure...

You will fly into Kiev, the capital of the Ukraine, and then take a bus journey to Odessa.  Odessa is the largest city on the Black Sea and the fifth largest city in Ukraine.  You will enjoy the beaches, wander through the old city, and hang out at the harbor.  Ever had Borscht?  If not, get ready!  Borscht (beet soup) is a traditional Ukrainian dish.  And did we mention Romania?  No, you won't see Dracula in the Transylvanian mountains, but you will discover the incredible warmth and hospitality of the Romanian people.

Friends...

You just can't spend that much time in prayer, preparation, and ministry and not draw super-close to each other!  You and your teammates will not only bring Christ to Eastern Europe but to each other as well.  You will make authentic friendships where you are loved for who you are--not how you look, how you act, or what you have or wear.  You will go home stronger as an individual and more committed in your walk with Christ because of the support and encouragement of the friends you make on the trip.

Spiritual Transformation...

Romania and Ukraine are spiritually empty, but so many people are thirsty to know the Truth!  You will come away with a new appreciating for your faith as you share it with those who have none.

On all of our mission trips your spiritual growth is a priority.  When you immerse yourself in the Bible during your quiet times, share in your discipleship groups, memorize scripture, pray together, and worship together on a daily basis, you'll grow!  That transformation will come full-circle as you share your faith, giving away to others what God is giving to you!
