The Costa Rica mission trip is 36 days long (5 weeks). If you are looking for a less expensive mission trip that leaves much of June and all of your August free, Costa Rica is a great option. You are required to raise $2,495 plus your spending money (see below).
The Heart of Your Ministry...
You and your team will work alongside Pastor Alfonso and his church in the mountain coffee village of Cachi. You will reach out to surrounding coffee villages and cities during your trip and spread the Gospel in one-on-one and small group conversations.
How will you do ministry? You can choose drama, dance, or puppets, which you will develop to reach out through public mini-performances in many of the surrounding towns. The goal will be to meet and hang with students in Cachi and other villages and develop real relationships with them. Costa Ricans are warm, friendly, and want to talk with you. Pastor Alfonso's church has grown like crazy since we started sending teams, and next summer we will continue to reach out and spread the Gospel in one-on-one and small group conversations.
Do you like to play soccer? Put your skills to work on this short term missions trip. You will have soccer matches with villagers during the week, and on weekends, you will play in highly competitive, fast-play, futsal tournaments putting the light of Christ on display. Learn more about our soccer ministry here.
If you prefer drama, dance, or puppets, you will reach out through public mini-performances that will draw attention and open doors to share about Christ.
As with every Royal Servants mission trip, prayer, worship, quiet time, and small group discussions are part of our daily routine.
Adventure...
You will hike up to a mountain coffee plantation cabin, have a Costa-Rican barbeque, and swim in a tropical waterfall. You will eat ice-cream, French fries, and tacos in local shops--not to mention ethnic foods like beans & rice, plantains, and Salsa Lizano, a green salsa that they use on everything (no kidding). You will spend a day at a Pacific Ocean beach and if the weather is clear see a live volcano up close. We will spend a day shopping in the markets of San Jose where you can buy Costa Rican goods like djembes, jewelry, hand-made bags, and great coffee.
Spiritual Transformation...
When you minister in Costa Rica, you will encounter a people who know about Christ, but are far from Him. You will be challenged to reflect on your faith and make sure that what you believe in your head is lived out through your heart.
On all of our mission trips your spiritual growth is a priority. When you immerse yourself in the Bible during your quiet times, share in your discipleship groups, memorize scripture, pray together, and worship together on a daily basis, you'll grow! That transformation will come full-circle as you share your faith, giving away to others what God is giving to you!
New Friends...
Your teammates will come from across North America. You will do things together that you did not think you could do and then laugh about it that night. You will learn about each other and pray for one another with care and compassion. Your team is going to feel like family by the end of the mission trip--guaranteed!
