Biggest Loser

Staff-BC-Tom-Ives

5 Suggestions for Stepping Out In Faith--I was watching, "The Biggest Loser" the other night, and I was struck by something Bob said.  In the midst of encouraging one of the participants during a particularly painful workout, Bob, with that razor-sharp intensity of a coach, said, "You have to find new limits!"  Wham!  Straight to the point and on target...

Ukraine, The last Report

Basketball

Tonight we find ourselves packed and ready to leave the Ukraine.  All of our black packs are lined up by the front door, our equipment is shrink wrapped, and our rooms here are cleaner than they h

Ukraine Leaving It On The Court

Sunday night was our last night of basketball ministry, and as a team
we were looking for a big night. Saturday was a good night of ministry
and many things happened. Cody talked about leaving everything we had
on the court, being relentless in our ministry in anticipation of
debriefing week. We played basketball, did the performances (killer
performances) and then we started talking to people about Jesus.

Ukraine Bus Rides

Students in Odessa

Tonight marks our last time of street ministry/basketball.  We expect a huge crowd tonight and we are excited to share the gospel with young people we have spent the last three weeks getting to know.  Debriefing is right around the corner for us, but we are determined to "leave it all on the court" tonight and leave the results up to God.

Ukraine, Sunday Church

Team getting ready to head out

Last Sunday we found ourselves in the church here in Odessa.  We were crammed into the tiny room they rent in an old Soviet factory.  The reason we were crammed is: A) the room is tiny, and B) We had many first time visitors that came to the church for the first time after meeting our team during our nights of ministry here at the basketball courts.  It is one thing to see our students have great conversations with people after one of our street performances.  And, it is beautiful to see those same people get connected and plugged in to the local church that we are working alongside.  It has been a huge encouragement for the local believers from the church here who were nearly ecstatic when they saw how many people (some who have never stepped foot in a church before) enter their fold!  Praise God for his faithfulness.

Ukraine, Building Relationships

Team Building with the Ukrainian Youth

This past week we all wrote out a 3 minute testimony that we would be able to share in conversations with people as we are talking about our relationship with Christ.  The day we assigned this, a few of the students were really struggling with what to say and how to say it.  That night however, one of these students, Sarah, found herself in a spiritual conversation with someone and before she knew it, whe was sharing her story.  She came back excited that night that God had given her what she was so nervous about writing out, just when she needed it.
