Matt-in-Freetown.jpg

This summer's Royal Servants mission trip to Sierra Leone is gonig to be a real adventure.  Read about our recent scouting trip in preparation. Planes, Trains, Ferrys, Boats, Mini Buses, Automobiles and Motor Bikes... using almost every mode of transportation, Jeff and I successfully made our journey all the way to Sierra Leone and back! Our adventurous trip was a success and our time with the Youth for Christ staff (YFC) rocked. Plans are now underway for another exciting Royal Servants mission trip to Sierra Leone this summer!  Here are some of our major impressions...

Biggest Loser

Staff-BC-Tom-Ives

5 Suggestions for Stepping Out In Faith--I was watching, "The Biggest Loser" the other night, and I was struck by something Bob said.  In the midst of encouraging one of the participants during a particularly painful workout, Bob, with that razor-sharp intensity of a coach, said, "You have to find new limits!"  Wham!  Straight to the point and on target...

Unimaginable Poverty & Oppression

This is the second summer we will be taking a Royal Servants mission trip to Sierra Leone.  The trip is being led by Reign Ministries staff member, Matt Halseth.  The Sierra Leone mission trip is 43 days long.  It is not for the faint of heart.  It's hot, the student's walk a lot, and they encounter extreme poverty and tragedy.  But the people are among the warmest and friendliest you'll ever encounter.

Has God Called YOU to Africa This Summer?

Over the years I have had the privilege of serving on mission trips all over Africa. Each of these experiences has left me in awe of Gods awesome power and undying love for his people.

Year-End to 2010: Join Us!

It has been a very exciting year despite the challenges of 2009.  Even more exciting: the horizon is bright for 2010.  We have a new Royal Servants video, we are continuing development on our new Training Camp, and our discipleship is increasing.  Get the news and read about three immediate opportunities we are undertaking in 2010:

01 sz1Launch our new Royal Servants video that will be viewed by thousands in 2010.  We need $3,000 to purchase distribution copies.  Our video will be shown to tens-of-thousands of students and parents in churches, schools, and youth groups over the next three years.  Students will join our teams because of this video.

02 sz1Send our Sierra Leone, West Africa, advance team as they prepare for an a mission trip this summer that will touch the poorest of the poor, orphans, and civil war amputees.  We are praying for $6,000 to cover our preparation expenses for this summer.

03 sz1Help us purchase 10 new Royal Servants sound systems for our mission trips this summer.  Each sound system costs $550, and a gift of any amount will give our teams what they need this summer to shine a light in the dark.  These sounds systems will be essential to presenting the Gospel message to more than 100,000 people around the world over the next three years.

Sierra Leone, Last Days Missing Report

It is early on Saturday morning. Tomorrow we will go to church and then begin the trip to the airport. In theory, if things go according to the plan, we should get there in plenty of time to make our flight. We will have ten hours to make what is supposed to be about a 3-4 hour journey. We will see what happens. Moving 30 people around Sierra Leone has been a challenge and is always an adventure.

As I sit here watching an African sunrise, it is hard to put into words what God has accomplished in and through the lives of our students. They are an amazing group of young men and women who have truly earned the words that await them from Jesus regarding this summer…”well done my good and faithful servants.”

Sierra Leone Debriefing in London

We arrived safely to London on Monday morning.  Our proposed 3 1/2 hour
trip from Makeni to the airport ended up being 5 1/2 but it was
relatively uneventful which was a nice surprise.  We were able to see
some pretty authentic African villages along the route.
